Morning rounds for Friday

Athan had a good night, and during the feeding we missed he was able to take more from a bottle than he ever has before (which is good news for meds later). This morning we got to unhook his monitors and go down to a special room for breastfeeding. It was a much more peaceful and quiet environment, and kiddo ate really well. Again, unless he is groggy from meds or activity, he nurses really well.

We just talked to the docs on morning rounds. They were very encouraged. His thyroid tests confirmed that his medicine is at the right dosage for him. Basically, the thing we lack is to keep weaning his hydrocortisone (adrenal gland med) until it is as low as he will tolerate (as low as he can take while maintaining good blood pressure and glucose level). Every other specialty that is following him will be checking once again and letting us know if/when we will need to follow up with them in clinic after he is released to go home.

Of course no one knows for sure, but unless there are unforeseen delays, we could be going home by the middle or end of next week.

It does seem sad that these little ones have to go through these kinds of things - but fortunately, they don't know any different. The sadness is that he, like our Claire, isn't the perfect child we always hope for. But again, God is the one who knit Athan together in your womb - and whatever the trials, it is all ultimately for the glory of God. As our little Claire progresses in mini-steps, we consider each one a miracle. When people ask if we don't want the miracle of an immediate cure - we always respond that we'd love that, but we are also seeing miracles every day and must remember to always give God the glory for those. We don't know what He has in store for these precious ones - but it has to be something marvelous and fantastic!!
Claire also took her meds well with the little syringe, usually before feeding time. It's a trick and sometimes you will wonder if he got enough, but our dr. explained that it always looks like more coming out of the mouth but that's due to all the saliva.
We continue to pray for all of you. Little Morgan will learn that Athan is her special brother and like our little Hope, will become his biggest cheerleader and defender.
Our prayer is that you will rely heavily on Him who is our strength and support. He is sufficient. That doesn't mean tears won't be a part of it - tears as often the product of great faith.

That last "Anonymous" was from Chris, Abby and Jencee Thompson.

Obviously, not a blogger.
